Caution: Breathing exercises presented here are not for people with osteoporosis, osteopenia, or fragile bones. If you have a history of tumors, pneumothorax, or hemothorax, you will need to seek medical advice and/or supervision prior to performing any breathing exercises.
Purpose: To improve mobility by performing the Core Pump of Breathing Exercise Stage 6 while assuming various postures.
Schedule: Perform Breathing Exercise Stages 4 - 7 together in one session.
Start: Begin by sitting down in a comfortable, upright position with your feet placed firmly on the ground.
Step 1: Place your left and right hands as follows:
Left Hand: place over your belly button.
Right Hand: place over your chest bone.
Step 2: Bend the trunk forward, and perform the Core Pump from Breathing Exercise Stage 6 three to four times. Bend further forward and repeat.
Step 3: Repeat Step 2, this time bending the trunk backward.
Step 4: Repeat Step 2, this time turning the trunk to the right.
Step 5: Repeat Step 2, this time turning the trunk to the left.
Step 6: Repeat Step 2, this time side-bending the trunk to the right.
Step 7: Repeat Step 2, this time side-bending the trunk to the left.
End: All steps have been completed.
Observe: Move around and feel the increase in the mobility of your trunk, as well as in the ease of your breathing.
